‘‘Experience the beautiful landscape that surrounds this Welsh village’’

Set in the heart of Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales, Talybont-on-Usk has much to offer the traveller. Discover the spectacularly beautiful landscape of hills, woodlands, and waterfalls and the abundance of wildlife to which they are home. Visit the top of the waterfalls for great views that span over the forest.

Caerfanell River runs through Talybont-on-Usk village into the River Usk. With a plentiful supply of wild trout and salmon, Usk offers plenty of opportunity for fishing and its safe waters make it the perfect place for the novel fisherman. The village also contains a reservoir that is perfect for bird watching with the many bird species that frequent this haven.

Explore the Brecon Beacons National Park by the many walking and cycle paths, suitable for all abilities or kick up some dirt mountain biking.  For sailing and more fishing opportunities, Llangorse Lake is the largest national lake in South Wales and is only a short drive away.

Talybont-on-Usk is a village with a rich history dating back to the Iron Age. Hill tops expose several Iron Age settlements and on Caim Pica there lies the remains of Bronze Age burial sites. The town is also famous for the local poet; Henry Vaughan also named the ‘Swan of Usk’, who was deeply inspired by the surrounding landscape. He is now buried in the Beacons at Llansantffraed Church.

Four pubs in the village offer great food and refuge after days spent trekking through the Beacons. Unwind while sampling a wide variety of ales at the award winning Star Inn pub. At night star gazing is a must; you might even see the Milky Way with the naked eye!

If you’re interested in renewable energy and green transport, the village is partially powered by its own hydro-electric power station and you can hire an electric Twizzy car to explore the local area to boot!

As a great place to spend time exploring and relaxing or as a base to adventure in to the rest of the Brecon Beacons National Park, Talybont-on-Usk is a great place to visit.
