‘‘Charming Welsh villages with an abundance of activities, heritage and stunning landscape’’

Llangors and Bwlch are beautiful Welsh villages set within the gorgeous Brecon Beacons National Park. Llangors is home to the largest natural lake in South Wales, formed from a glacier thousands of years ago which is now inhabited by an eclectic mix of bird life and renowned for its pike fishing.

Bwlch’s appeal lies with the ancient history of castles, an iron-age fort and impressive standing stones. The ruins of Blaenllynfi Castle once stood guard over the Roman road between Abergavenny and Brecon and two ancient standing stones of unknown origin are prominently displayed here. With many walking and mountain biking trails situated around Bwlch, there are plenty of opportunities to view these ancient structures and see views of the lake and the stunning Welsh landscape from all angles.

Spend a relaxing day boating or fishing on Llangorse Lake, or perhaps viewing its feathered inhabitants. For more action packed activities join in with organised activities such as rock climbing and outdoor challenge courses at Llangorse Multi Activity Centre, or experience the spectacular views of the Welsh landscape from horse back over 25 miles of private bridleways.

Whether you prefer hotels, B&Bs or camping, Llangors and Bwlch offer a quiet setting for a restful break away from the busier tourist towns. And the award winning Welsh Venison Centre and Farm Shop in Bwlch offers excellent local produce and gives you lots of choice for something tasty to take home!

Finish off days spent exploring these villages with a spot of star gazing.  Both villages lie within the Brecon Beacons National Park which has recently been awarded Dark Sky Reserve status.  On a clear night the Milky Way, meteor showers and many constellations can be seen in a truly breath-taking sky.

Although small in size, Llangorse and Bwlch are not short of activities and visitors are sure to get the most out of their visit to the Brecon Beacons.
